জ্বর

গালে স্পর্শ পাই। ডুবে যেতে থাকি জ্বরে। আমার কিশোর বয়স। পুটিদি ভরা নদী হয়ে পাশে বসে থাকে। ওর বাঁকগুলি দেখে মনে হয় বাঁশঝাড়ের আড়াল। মনে হয় নির্জন এক কোনে লুকিয়ে রাখা নৌকা। তোমার ঐ নৌকায় আমাকে চড়তে দেবে, কোনদিন বলতে পারিনি। অথচ আমার মাঝি হওয়ার ইচ্ছে ছিল ষোলোআনা।
একদিন স্নানের সময় ওকে লুকিয়ে দেখি। কোমড়ে কালো সুতো। বাজুতে কালো সুতোয় বাঁ্ধা মাদুলি। একটা সাপ আমার পা বেয়ে উঠতে থাকে। তার ফোঁস করা শুনতে পাই। আমার শিরশিরানি শুরু হয়। পা কাঁপতে থাকে। তখন নগ্ন নারী বলতে টাইটানিকের কেট। রোমাঞ্চকর সমুদ্র লুকিয়ে রাখা তার শরীরে। ভয় করে। আমি আর চোখ নামাতে পারিনা, যেখানে পদ্মফুল, মধু, অগরু আদি জমা হয়ে থাকে। আমার ভীতু চোখে আগুন জ্বলতে থাকে। জ্বালা করে।

পুটিদি কপাল টিপে দেয়। ইচ্ছে করে জড়িয়ে ধরতে। ওর ভারী হয়ে ওঠা বুক থেকে কয়েকটা পাখি উড়ে যায়। আমি তাদের খাঁচায় ধরতে চাই। তাদের পোষ মানাতে চাই। গান শেখাতে চাই।
অথচ সব পাখি গান গাইতে পারেনা। সারারাত ধরে তারা শুধু মাথার ভেতর দিয়ে আকাশের পর আকাশ অতিক্রম করে। তাদের ডানায় রোদ। তাদের ডানায় মেঘেদের গুড়ো। আমি ডাক দিই, পুটিদি….
পুটিদি আমার মাথায় জলপট্টি দেয়। গালে মাথায় হাত বুলিয়ে দেয়। আমি বলি, পাখি পুষবো, পুটিদি। পাখি পুষতে দেবে? পুটিদি আমাকে চুপ করিয়ে দেয়। ঘুমিয়ে পড়তে বলে।

লবঙ্গদি

দাঁতে ব্যাথা হলে লবঙ্গদির কাছে যেতাম। দিদি জামার হুক খুলে বলতো, নে, মুখে দে। মুখে দিলেই এক রহস্য খেলা শুরু করতো সারা শরীরে। ব্যাথা কমে যেত। মনে হত লবঙ্গদি একটা গাছ। আমি বেয়ে বেয়ে উঠতে চাইতাম।

কোন কোনদিন গভীর জঙ্গলের গন্ধে ভরে উঠতো দিদির শরীর। আমি তিনটে বাড়ি দূরে থেকেও তা টের পেতাম। রাতের বেলা একটা নেউল ঘুরে বেড়াত। তার গা থেকে ভুরভুর করে ভোগ আতপের গন্ধ আসতো। এত গন্ধ আমার ভালো লাগতো না। আমি স্নানের আছিলায় জলে ডুবে মরার গল্প করতাম।

ভোরের দিকে আমার জ্বর আসতো। সারা শরীর কম্প দিয়ে জ্বর। মনে হত আমার দাঁতগুলি ঠুকাঠুকি করে ভেঙ্গে যাবে।

আমার ভয় করে। লবঙ্গদি ডাক দেয়। কী রে, দাঁতে ব্যাথা আছে? আমি মুখ খুলি। লবঙ্গদি হুক খুলে দাঁড়ায়।

অদৃশ্য শেকল

আমরা একটা জ্বলন্ত গল্পের চারপাশে গোল হয়ে বসি। গল্পের তাপ গায়ে এসে লাগে। আমাদের সামনে গল্প আর আমাদের ঠিক পেছনে তার ছায়াটি ভূতের মতো দুলতে থাকে।

আমরা কীর্তন শুনতে যাই বাতাসার লোভে। আমরা মেলায় যাই মেয়ে দেখার লোভে। যেকোন একটি তারার দিকে তাক করে ছুড়ে দিই লুকোন পাপপূণ্যগুলি। মুখোশ কিনে বাড়ি ফিরি। মাঝে মাঝে বলি-
যে গল্পগুলো আমাদের মুখোশ খুলে দেয়, তাদের পুড়িয়ে ফেলতে হবে। তার ছাই দিয়ে বানিয়ে নিতে হবে দাঁত চকচকে করার মাজন।

আমাদের সত্যিকথা বলতে নেই। আমাদের কণ্ঠে এবং শিরদাঁড়ায় অদৃশ্য শেকল বাঁ্ধা আছে।

ঘুম

আজ ভেবেছিলাম শুক্রবার। স্কুলে এসে দেখলাম দিন পালটে গেছে। দিনের গয়ে বৃহস্পতিবার লাগানো হয়েছে। বুঝলাম আমার ভুলের তীব্রতা দিন কে দিন বেড়ে চলেছে। এবার একটু ঘুমের প্রয়োজন। অথচ ঘুমাতে গেলেই আমার প্রচন্ড জেগে থাকতে ইচ্ছে করে।

বসে বসে গান শুনি। অন্ধকার গুলিয়ে দেওয়া পাখিডাক শুনি। শেয়ালের গায়ে লেগে পিছলে যাওয়া জ্যোৎস্না দেখি। কোন কোন রাতে আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের গায়ের গন্ধ পাই। মরে যাওয়া মানুষের গন্ধ পেলে আমার ঘুম পায় অল্প অল্প করে।

মৃত মানুষের কথা ভাবি। মৃত নারীদের কথা ভাবি। তাদের নাভির গর্ত থেকে সুগন্ধ ভেসে আসে।

মালী

ঘুমের ভেতর একটা টলটলে নদী থাকলে ভালো হত। তাতে মাঝি হয়ে নৌকা বাইতাম। দুপুর ভরে রাখা ঘাটে গিয়ে দাঁড়াতাম। স্বপ্নে পাওয়া মানুষদের নৌকায় তুলে নিতাম। জল ছিটিয়ে দিতাম গল্পগাছার গা’য়। তারা খিলখিল করে হেসে উঠতো অমায়িকভাবে।

অথচ মাঝনদীতে কেউ আমাকে যেতেই দেয় না। ঘুমের আবরণের সুযোগে নদী চুরি করে পালায় একজন। নৌকার কাঠ দিয়ে ঘর বানায় আমার স্ত্রী ও সন্তান।

আমি কাতর হয়ে ঘুমের সাথে লড়াই করি। ছিড়ে ফেলি চাঁদের ঝালর লাগানো সৌখিন মশারি।

একটা ঝিমধরা গাছ তার দূরবর্তী ডাল নেড়ে ভোরকে ডেকে আনে। আমি সেই গাছটিকে কেটে ফেলতে চেয়েছি বহুদিন। পারিনি। বরং সকাল হলেই সেই গাছে আমাকে জল দিতে হয়। দিন হলে আমি তার বিশ্বস্ত মালী হয়ে যাই।

বৃষ্টি

আমি বলি, পুটিদি ঠান্ডা লাগে। কাঁথা উঠিয়ে আমাকে ভেতরে ঢুকিয়ে নেয়। আকাশ জুড়ে বৃষ্টি পড়তে থাকে। বাতাস ভরে থাকে আমাদের গরম নিঃশ্বাসে। আমরা চুপ করে ঘুমের অভিনয় করি। বিন্দুমাত্র শান্তি পাইনা। একে অপরের বুকের ভেতরে মেঘ ডাকার শব্দ শুনি।

পুটিদি হাতের মুঠোয় মেঘ ধরে থাকে। মেঘে মেঘে আকাশ ভাগাভাগি হয়ে যায়। মনে মনে বলি – তুমি জানো না পুটিদি, মেঘের মতো মানুষের বুক ভারী হয়ে এলে, আমার ভেতরও তুমুল বৃষ্টি শুরু হয়।
